Rebecca Rätzke & Sibylle Krieger
Rebecca Rätzke is an experienced breeder of Dutch Shepherd Dogs and has been working for many years as the breeding director at HSCD e. V. to preserve the Dutch Shepherd Dog breed and support breeding efforts in Germany. Her passion for dogs began with the German Shepherd, which led her to the dog training grounds of northern Germany. There, she came to know and love the versatile Dutch Shepherd. She competes with her dogs in IGP, tracking, rally obedience, and object search.
Mandy Gläser, who also started out with a German Shepherd, stumbled upon the Dutch Shepherd more by chance, but he has captivated her ever since. She is now home to her third Dutch Shepherd, who is being trained in IGP. In addition to IGP, she has gained experience in rally obedience and, most recently, treibball with her Dutch Shepherds. She is currently serving as interim president of the HSCD e. V., is primarily active in the sporting sector, and is consistently impressed by the Dutch Shepherd’s quick learning ability and versatility, as well as its robust health.
Unlike other working dog breeds, the Dutch Working Dog was not classified as a working dog by its country of origin until 2020 and was recognized as such by the FCI. In terms of total population, the Dutch Working Dog is the smallest of the working dog breeds and is therefore much less common.
